The 9th theme of The Hibernation Project is a two-part radio program. You can listen to Part 2 of 2 above.
Listen to Part 1 here.
The second segment of VOYAGER RETURNS features sound art, experimental music, spoken word, interviews, noise, and narrative originally aired on CJSW 90.9 fm in Calgary/Mohkinstsis.
This theme references Voyager 1 and 2, spacecraft NASA launched in 1977 to capture photos and data from across the galaxy. As these flying objects enter into interstellar space, travelling further than any human-made objects have ever travelled from earth, they each carry with them a golden record of “earth sounds” compiled by Carl Sagan. With VOYAGER RETURNS, we’re imagining that the Voyagers have been received or intercepted, and “alien signals, songs, and sounds” have been sent back across the void of space in response, received by radio at CJSW 90.9 fm.
Thanks to all the artists for their work – this week, and last week – and to listeners for tuning in!
